Identification of the Ruffe Oocyte Maturation-inducing Substance and Characterization of its Receptor

 Objectives/Abstract:

  1. To identify the MIS in the Eurasian ruffe.
  2. To determine the steroid specificity of MIS receptor binding.
  3. To determine the steroid specificity of sex pheromone receptor binding.
  4. To test selected xenobiotics for interference with natural ligand binding to the MIS and pheromone receptors.

Methodology: Maturation-inducing steroids (MIS) and sex pheromones will be characterized by standard biochemical methods.
